Rules

Minimum rental requirements.

  • Renter / operator must be at least 21 years old at the time of the rental delivery or the delivery. No exceptions.
  • All potential drivers must be listed on the rental agreement and will be responsible for the same policies and procedures detailed on the rental agreement
  • Renter must have a validated reservation / booking / address of residence during their stay within the City of Key West. Golf carts are not permitted to leave the geographic area depicted in our rental agreement, any violations of these boundaries may result in immediate cancellation of the reservation. Carts are not permitted to operate on highways (US1) which begins as you exit the city limits of Key West proper.
  • Carts may not be altered in any way, no items or accessories are to be attached, glued, clamped or otherwise affixed to the cart in any way, this includes magnets, stickers, advertisements etc.
  • Our carts are limited to 1 operator and 3 additional passengers for a total of 4 persons. Any groups exceeding this people count will be encouraged to book an additional cart. Carts are limited to this passenger count by law.
  • All operators and passengers are required to keep their arms and legs inside the cart at all times for your safety and the safety of others, we have a heavy bicycle rider population on our island and situations involving a limb or body part striking a bicyclist while passing by are possible. We encourage the use of the provided seatbelts at all times.
  • Sharp turns for rear facing passengers can happen unexpectedly and could forcibly eject someone from the cart.
  • Small children should be highly supervised while riding in the carts, again we encourage seatbelt use.
  • Operators and passengers will not be intoxicated by, possess or transport open alcoholic beverages or illegal substances of any kind while operating the vehicles. Open containers in vehicles and driving under the influence laws are strictly enforced.
  • Carts are classified as normal vehicles for all road operational purposes with the exception of not being authorized to operate on state highways due to their limited speed. Therefore, carts cannot be driven off road, on sidewalks or otherwise operated any differently than a normal vehicle. All road rules apply!
  • Parking – this is a big one! Parking on our small island is limited and the majority of parking spots (particularly downtown) are either restricted to residential use or operated with “paid parking” meter systems. These are strictly enforced and fines for parking without authorization start at a minimum $50 fine and can lead up to $250+ and/or towing which begins at $250 and goes up from there. Please, please, please ensure you are paying for parking and/or parking in authorized locations. All tow locations are clearly marked and any violations, fines or tows incurred during your rental period will be billed directly along with our own fines for administrative processing of these incidents. It usually takes just a couple of extra minutes to properly park and pay, lets keep it smooth for us all!
